Film > This Place Called Poetry

"In the real life, if you make a mistake, you get punished. It's either black or white -- you have to do it the right way or the wrong way; you have to choose. But in poetry, if you make a mistake -- if you stutter in front of someone, nobody's going to laugh. It's a world where you're free to do whatever you want." -- Indiana

From Indiana's poem "Ode to Bulgaria"

O Bulgaria
A lion jumping over the iron woods
Is coming in my night dreams
Asking me to stop being a child
Pressing my wrists tightly
Making me run barefooted
In the painting of a foreign artist
